Background
The Central Committee of the CPC and the State Council approved the Ministry of Commerce and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality to jointly host China (Beijing) International Fair for Trade in Services (referred to as the Beijing Fair) in 2012, in order to enhance the international competitiveness of China's service industry and trade in services, and give full play to the role of service industry and trade in services in accelerating the transformation of economic development mode. It was renamed China International Fair for Trade in Services in 2019. As China's economic development enters a new era, the development of the Beijing Fair has also entered a new stage of upgrading. The short name for China International Fair for Trade Services was renamed from "Beijing Fair" to "CIFTIS" in 2020. CIFTIS (including the former Beijing Fair) has been successfully held for six sessions, which has become an important platform for spreading ideas, connecting supply and demand, sharing business opportunities, and promoting common development in the field of international trade in services. CIFTIS is the largest comprehensive exhibition in the field of global trade in services and the leading exhibition in the field of trade in services in China, which has become one of the three major exhibition platforms for China's opening-up together with China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) and China International Import Expo (CIIE). |
The Central Committee of the CPC and the State Council are very concerned about the development of CIFTIS. General Secretary Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the 2019 China International Fair for Trade in Services, and Premier Li Keqiang, Vice Premier Hu Chunhua, then Premier Wen Jiabao and then Vice Premier Wang Yang attended the previous events and provided guidance on the work. |
